2.5 WWW/HTML Production Tools

2.5.1 Converters/tools for writing large HTML documents

• Latex2Html Manual. (local copy). Très bon traducteur si vous aimez Latex (tables included now!) - To set it up right, you have to copy all necessary style files to your ~/tex/input directory. See also the bib2html translator. Links: Latex2HTML Development Repository, Official Manual
• Webmaker 3 * (PS and PDF * Release Notes). Used to be the most powerful FrameMaker to HTML generator on earth (dead product, still somewhat working with latest FM version).
• rtftohtml (Version web2html 1.6, based upon the orginal rtftohtml 2.7). C'était le meilleur traducteur Word2/6/rtf (situation actuelle ???)

2.5.2 Postscript

• Several viewers are available on Unix, e.g. ghostview
• fixfm5 (see the source code) will translate a frame 5 ps file into eps. Use a separate page for each drawing then print to file first.

2.5.3 Various ->HTML Filters and Utilities

• htmldoc convertit un ensemble de fichiers html en PS ou PDF, ou encore fait un fichier html avec un indexe. Sur Sun, lancer 'htmldoc --help' ou 'xtmldoc' pour le GUI. Logiciel disponible egalement pour PC. (voir le site)
• htmltoc: Genere des tables de matières html a partir d'un ou plusieurs documents HTML (comme pour cette page par exemple).
  La commande 'htmltoc-eng fichier.html' insère dans le fichier.html une table de matière à trois niveaux (il s'agit juste d'un shortcut pour les options que j'utilise d'habitude, 'htmltoc-fr fait la même chose en français).
• MHonArc An Email-to-HTML converter, mime compatible, May 97 version.
• hypermail (Man page): An other converter
• txt2html: convertisseur ascii -> html. For all links, ( consult the original page)
• dir2html. Un simple shell script qui génère une liste de liens pour un répertoire ET ses sousrépertoires. Alternative: dir2html.old (voir le code source)
• ls2html Un simple shell script qui génère une liste de liens pour un SEUL répertoire, mais avec dates et taille.
• mvwww: opens recursively all *.html files from directory htmlroot and replaces url-Path which old reference beginning with oldroot to newroot (untested !)

• mapmaker: Un utiliataire pour construire des MAPs (NCSA) d'un repertoire de GIFs.
• xurl: Extract all URLs from an URL, example: xurl http://tecfa.unige.ch/welcome.html
• htls: Build a page with directories/files. Type: 'htls -h' for help. Warning: 'cd' to the directory first. Works with Htgrep
• ren. Utilité pour renommer des fichiers (voir Unix PowerTools)
• rename. Utilité pour renommer des fichiers. Exemples: (1) rename 's/.html/.xml/ *' (2) find . -print | rename 's/%2f/./gi'

2.5.4 HTML verification

• weblint: Un outil qui vérifie la syntaxe d'une page HTML. A utiliser !! (si vous désirez customiser, copier .weblintrc dans votre home dir. Home: http://www.weblint.org/. (a faire: weblint interface).

• wget. GNU Wget is a freely available network utility to retrieve files from the World Wide Web, using HTTP and FTP. (N'utilisez pas ca AU HASARD !!)
