2.2 Example libraryAs a example library I use a School that teaches applications. There, in every class room, is a small library where books should be traced, a central library is available to all teachers, every teacher owns some personal books that he or she might be willing to share with others, also there is a central filing of didactical material, but there is also private material of teachers, sometimes outdated or not finished that is not transferred to the central filing system. |

2.3 Specification of the projectSet up of a library model, with information desk, conference room, different rooms containing bookshelves ordered by subject or other criteria. There are logical medias (books) with properties as full title, author, abstract, readability rating, information value rating, readers opinion about the book. The Reference (i. e. Wengers 1987a) and the ISBN-Number (or other reference system for different medias) are set as name and alias, a further property is the There a physical medias. Physical medias may have the same name as logical medias, they have a reference in the library system. this can be a serial number or a library code already used in the library or newly created in the library. Checkin (Check in of one or several medias) Request (request a media to use it for a definite period) Promise (promise to give a media to someone) Give (hand over a media to some one else) Confirmation of receipt of a given media. Inventarisation of the medias in the library. Inscription as library user. Inscription as some one who is sharing books. Leaving messages when you are around the next time to answer questions immediately. Leaving messages that are sent by e-mail to other users. Conferencing. |

You can find books by two means:
You can go to the following places where you will find: Conference rooms: People discussing anounced topics at anounced times. Topic rooms: Bookshelfs with books to this topic. Personal rooms: Bookshelf with Books that belong to certain persons. This books are important for the work and studies of this person. You can leave the person a message and the person may let you its book for some time or he or she sends you a copy of a part of the book. |

If you have taken a book, you might get messages by email if someone else requests a book, has questions concerning the book or when the book is due to be brought back to the library. If you can give library books and private books physically from one person to the other you can:
You can add a book as information unit. You can add a physical presence information to existing books or a new books. You can remove a physical presence information if a book is sold to a person outside the library system or if a book is lost. A person can leave the library system, then all its physical presence information on books will be removed. You can join the library system, open there a office and make your private books available to others. |
