Hand-wrist surgery has become our proof of concept, demonstrating the reciprocal enrichment of medicine, cognitive psychology and informatics in the creation of a VR simulation.
Bone‐S is a feasibility demonstrator in hand/wrist surgery. This novel training software will partly replace today’s costly and risky real patient surgical exercising. Stereoscopic 3D visualization and haptic interaction will allow interactive learning through the use of hands‐on interfacing. Our innovative approach of using spatial cognition training for surgical procedures will improve self‐learning autonomy and provide integrated assessment.
