Résumé, summary

The students can arrange music and practice some instruments using the computer. The software used for the activity was "MUSIC PRO=TOWNS MIDI." The students could use it easily because they just needed to click the mouse on each icon on the computer screen. The computer was used for 4 different types of activities. (1) The teacher demonstrated a basic piece of music using the computer. The music consisted of 4 parts, such as the melody, the chords, the rhythm, and the basso continu. The students listened to each part separately and also listened to all the parts together. (2) The students practiced some music instruments with the computer. They could change the volume of their parts so that they could listen to the melody line of their parts clearly. (3) The students arranged some music using the computer. Two to eight students made a group and selected a piece of music which they wanted to play. They input the melody and harmony in accordance with the chord name. Then they input some rhythms and baselines in accordance with the harmony. (4) The students played the music arranged by the computer. Finally, they made ensemble music. These activities helped the students to have self confidence in arranging music and playing some instruments.
