In September 1995, a Subject Evaluation Conference for Communication Sciences was organised by the SIGMA Group. At this Conference, a small group was delegated to prepare an application to establish a Thematic Network under SOCRATES-ERASMUS, Action 1, for the field of Communication Sciences. This group, representing the interests and opinions of the participants in the Conference, and following consultation with other colleagues, in particular the coordinators of ERASMUS ICPs, has prepared the following proposal. This proposal is the result of a preparatory meeting, circulation of main points to the above colleagues, and revision through electronic mail discussion.
