Despite the interest of at least one company - Hewlett Packard - it seems unlikely that the initiative for recognition of acquired knowledge and skills will come from companies (cf. 4.4.4), yet recognition is an essential factor in motivating people to continue learning as they would be able to capitalise on such learning on the job market. No doubt the initiative must come from the State in collaboration with institutions providing content and systems for learning as well as organisations representing employees and workers.
