Everyone has it's own Ithaki...

vivianYou have just reached Vivians island, because everyone has it's own island, it's own Ithaki.
"... Always keep Ithaki in your mind. To arrive there is your ultimate goal. But do not hurry the voyage at all. It is better to let it last for many years; and to anchor at the island when you are old, rich with all you have gained on the way, not expecting that Ithaki will offer you riches..." (1911, Kavafis, greek poet)
For a short description about me have a look here, but in general my brain works at TECFA and I express my community instincts concerning socio-constructivism at TECFASeed portal. I have a MOO office for the MOO addicts at TECFAMoo where everyone calls me simply "vivian".
So, welcome to my island where you can swim around and also discover various exotic places like ePBL, vquiz, commArt and joinproject where you can have fun and talk freely 24/24 h per day :) ePBL is my latest and more serious research.
But don't forget: don't leave any garbage before leaving and don't scare the fish!

ePBL PN module v2.0 is out!
Posted by: vivian on Tuesday, October 04, 2005 - 11:49 PM
ePBL module The second version of this complicated but highly appreciated module for Project-Based e-Learning is now available!
This is a module that I have developed for a big project that I am working on (my PhD thesis) and this version I should have released months ago but I was too busy to do it, but better late than never, right? I work on improving the module both technically and conceptually so any feedback is more than welcome (wiki ePBL community, ePBL Forum). For the ones to whom this article sounds like greek to them (nothing to do with the fact that I am greek :)) read first some of my publications inside the ePBL wikipage

So, here it is:
- NAME: ePBL
- VERSION: v2.0, Danai Release (stable and tested with 3 courses for 2 academic years)
- TYPE: Postnuke module (API-compliant)
- FOR: Postnuke 0.72x and over
- USE: Project-Based e-Learning in higher education
- LANGUAGES: English, French (in both, text can be improved :)
- REQUIREMENTS: Postnuke portal and an DTD-Aware XML editor like Morphon that is free (a simple text editor to start is also ok)

Homepage: ePBL wikipage (with link to Downloads)

Demo: (a real course that served as my first case study):
- STAF18 course portal (postgraduate course in Educational Technology)
- ePBL page
- ePBL Cockpit (some parts are only available for course members, teachers, students)
- No demo for ePBL administration currently available

vquiz v1.3
Posted by: vivian on Tuesday, June 01, 2004 - 12:48 PM
vquiz module New version of this Postnuke popular module :) This time, with a block included.

Download: vquiz 1.3.zip (Downloads section)

For the new installations just unzip the file and install it under "modules" dir and follow the usual procedure of PN modules installation (Demo ).

For the ones that have already vquiz installed, first make a backup of the DB and the old vquiz files (just in case:) and then and ONLY THEN :) unzip the new files under the same directory. You will need to pass from the Administration - Modules - Regenerate - vquiz - Upgrade - Activate to have the changes taken into consideration.

To add the block just go Administration - Blocks - New Block - Choose the "vquiz/Summary of Hall of Fame" and configure it according to your needs. (See a demo block at the right side of this portal)

enjoy as always ! and send me comments in the Forum :)

Problem with ePBL!!!
Posted by: vivian on Thursday, April 08, 2004 - 12:49 PM
ePBL module Several people that downloaded ePBL reported the same problem "Create workspace failed"...
I had a look at it recently and I realised that the version that I had put online was missing two basic things:
- a directory called uploads that should belong to nobody (where the students projects are stocked)
- a file that explained this specific thing
