About me

  • I was born in Bucaramanga (Colombia) in 1988; I'm the son of Luz Marina and Victor, and the brother of Victor Jr.
  • I studied Systems Engineering and Computer Science at the Universidad Industrial de Santander in my hometown, from 2005 to 2011. I became interested in e-learning during my first years at Uni, as I was hired part-time to work on a distance learning project
  • During my bachelor studies, I spent one year as visiting student at Ensimag - Grenoble Institute of Technoloy (France). I did my end-of-studies project in a startup in Lyon, where I reengineered the UX of a Learning Management System
  • I participated in the Young Ambassadors program of the Rhône-Alps region, which basically means that I know and can talk to you about the IT environment of this french region
  • Just after receiving my engineering diploma, I did a three-month internship at the IT department of the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C. I was offered a full-time job afterwards, as a web developer and Microsoft Sharepoint specialist. I lived in the US from January 2012 to July 2013
  • I was accepted and awarded with a full scholarship for the two-year European Master in Media Engineering for Education (EUROMIME). I quit my job in the US to move to France, Portugal, Spain, and Germany
  • I drove for about 40K Km during each year of grad school (sorry planet earth)
  • Grad school allowed me to explore in depth topics such as Virtual Reality, Educational Neurosciences, Affective Computing, Games in Education, and User Experience Evaluation
  • Now I'm fluent and certified :-) in English, French, and Portuguese. Spanish is my mother tongue
  • I had exposure to German, Russian and Chinese as well
  • Just after finishing grad school, I worked as a contractor for the German Development Agency (GIZ) in North Africa. I built an e-learning platform for the PanAfrican University of Water and Energy Sciences (PAUWES)
  • A Ph.D. offer came to my email to do a thesis in the field of Evaluation of Interactive Digital Storytelling. I applied and I was chosen from a pool of around 30 candidates to pursue my Ph.D. at the University of Geneva,
  • I won the UN Geneva's 70 years photo contest in november 2015. I love cycling and I plan to cycle around Lake Geneva summer 2016
