Danny Goodman's JavaScript Object Road Map and Compatibility Guide Printing and Collating Instructions This Adobe Acrobat document requires the Adobe Acrobat reader to display and print. If you do not have this software, it is available for free downloading from http://www.adobe.com. This document prints on four sides of U.S. letter-sized paper (it may also fit on A4, but I haven't tried it). For optimum convenience and portability, the document should be printed on two sheets of paper, and these sheets should be taped together as described below. There is a lot of small print in this document, so I recommend a 600 dpi printer. Portions of the document may not be readable at lesser resolutions. In the instructions below, I assume you have a printer that accepts paper from an automatic paper tray as well as from manual feed. Printing on two sides of a page can get confusing, and the process differs with each printer. I will provide an explanation of the process for my laser printer. 1. Open the document in Adobe Acrobat (if you also have the browser plug-in, you can do it from there). 2. Print pages 1 and 2 from your printer's automatic tray. 3. Print page 3 via manual feed on the back of page 1.* 4. Print page 4 via manual feed on the back of page 2.* * The bottoms of both side's content should touch the same long edge of the sheet. On my printer, this is accomplished by inserting the _trailing_ edge of the tray-printed page into the printer's manual feed slot. 5. Look for the tiny page numbers at the lower corners of each page. 6. Position the pages so that pages 1 and 2 are face up and touching each other along the short edge, but not overlapping each other. The page with the diagram should be on the left. ------------ ------------- | XXXXXX | | | XXXXXX | | | | | | | | | 1|2 | ------------ ------------- 7. Carefully align the pages and apply cellophane tape to join the pages together. Avoid overlapping the pages. You can use multiple pieces of tape (e.g., use small pieces at the top and bottom to stabilize the pages, then fill in the center with a longer piece). 8. Fold the document inward at the taped joint so that pages 1 and 2 face each other on the inside. 9. With page 3 facing up, carefully fold the document once more toward the right such that the cover page (on half of page 4) appears face-up, becoming the cover of a fold-out booklet. The 'fold here' guides on page 4 can help you align the fold. 10. Optional: Reinforce the tape joint with cellophane tape on the flip side of the opened document.
