imaginary <15 <i horizontal <p line that cuts through 
the <9 characters <15 in the font.  
The bottom of the character <Courier X, 
<Helvetica for example, is <32 aligned <15 on the font''s 
<i baseline. <p <15  Characters with <9 descenders <15 such as
the letter <Courier y, <Helvetica are <32 aligned 
<15 such that only the <b descender <p extends below
the <i baseline. <p <15  When painting text of different 
font sizes, the text should be painted such that their 
<i baselines <p <15 connect.
