The students made a dinosaur dictionary during the hypermedia activity. The students used the hypermedia software as a tool for expressing their understanding of the topic. The students showed a great deal of enthusiasm about studying dinosaurs. This enthusiasm motivates student learning. Since the students input their information freely on hypercard stacks, they worked very well without thinking of making mistakes. This hypermedia activity involved a great deal of cooperative work. The students made one book together. The students helped each other during this activity. They learned many things from the hypermedia screens which were made by other people in the classroom. The students could develop high of accomplishment feelings through this activity. They also found that computers could be used for expressing their ideas.

Hypermedia activities involve a great deal of work for the learner. There are research and writing activities. The learners can use the hypermedia software as a tool for expressing their understanding of a topic. They can also learn many things from the hypermedia screens which are made by other people in the classroom.

The students can show a great deal of enthusiasm about studying dinosaurs. This enthusiasm motivates student learning. Since the students input their information freely on hypercard stacks, they can work very well without thinking of making mistakes.

Enseignement, teaching :

We needed to teach how to use the hypercard software. However, since most students could master the use of the software easily, the teacher did not need to help the students often.

Technique :

We needed to have the HyperCard software for this activity. We also used a image scanner, a still video projector, and a still camera. These devices were easy to use; therefore, the teacher did not need to be a specialist for the activity.

Société, society :

This hypermedia activity involved a great deal of cooperative work. The students made one book together. The students helped each other during this activity.

Culture :

The students researched much information about dinosaurs. Some of it is from foreign countries. Therefore, they could be interested in many people's research works and opinions.

Institution :

Since 6 groups were making 6 different parts of the dictionary, we needed 6 computers for this activity. The teacher was quite available for the students' question and for help with the computers.

The students could develop high feelings of accomplishment through this activity. They also found that computers could be used for expressing their ideas.
