Two leading children's software experts, Warren Buckleitner and Anne
Bubnic, have opened up a web site called PEP: RESOURCES FOR PARENTS,
EDUCATORS and PUBLISHERS.
This site offers a comprehensive look at the children's software
industry,
with industry news, product reviews, software ratings, Teacher
Resources, a searchable database and the PEP Registry of 579+
Educational Software Publishers (with linkages). There are 114 unique

The site is a resource for science educators and researchers to obtain
samples of crossplatform, programmable virtual instruments (VIs). The
software (The Virtual Scientist) is a collection of LabVIEW (student
edition compatable) libraries for many fields including physics,
chemistry, biology, psychology, engineering, etc.). The libraries are
ready to use and will allow scientists and teachers to quickly replace
traditional instruments with computer based instruments (better).
Hardware is available (The Science ToolBox) to mate with the VIs for
actual data collection on the desktop.

Laennec CD-ROM is a multimedia CBT program on the clinical examination
of the lung. It is aimed at medical students in clinical years to
learn the basics, as well as at the young resident who wishes to
refreshen up his knowledge on the subject. Designed as a self-learning
tool, this software is also well suited as an illustration source for
a lecture on the subject (audio, videos, animation, graphics). The
hybrid CD-ROM (HFS/ISO 9660) is bilingual and includes both French and
